With a wealth of industry experience and a deep-rooted passion for high-quality roofing, Marcel de Bruin joins the RENOLIT team as the new Area Manager for the Netherlands. His background at Eurofast, where he dealt with the mechanical fastening of building envelopes, has given him a solid foundation for his upcoming role at RENOLIT.
"RENOLIT is a name I've known for over 30 years," says Marcel. "I always liked working with this company's products. So when the previous Area Manager left, I decided to make my bold move and apply. I once started as a PVC processor, so in my new position I'm definitely not going to stand on the sidelines, wearing a suit. Instead, I'm going to work with the customers."
As Area Manager for the Netherlands, Marcel is responsible for looking after the interests of all Dutch customers and managing distribution points. He notes that the Dutch market is fairly stable, but there is still growth potential due to ongoing construction activity. "It is important to stand out in a competitive market. We therefore offer additional technical support and service to our customers. Be it calculations, training or general support."
Marcel is actively involved in providing courses and training for roofers and distribution centers, where he enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience. With 35 years of experience in the profession, ranging from practical work as a roofer to sales management, he has built up a broad expertise. "Dutch roofs are enormously diverse. From large industrial complexes to specific architectural highlights. Sometimes a lot of meters just need to be laid, while in other cases design plays an important role. We offer solutions for both situations and strive to be at the forefront of sustainable solutions."
He continues: "Our focus is on multifunctional roofs that contribute to making urban areas greener and more sustainable. The Netherlands is leading the way when it comes to innovation, and we are proud to contribute to these developments."
This involves combining different types of roofing membranes that create more possibilities on the roof. "Think, for example, of roofs with solar panels (yellow roofs) combined with green roofs. Or water retention (blue roofs) combined with a roof on which there are, for example, tiny houses or a terrace (red roofs). Each situation requires its own (color) combination, but roofs offer a lot of possibilities."
A recent project Marcel is involved in involves the construction of a new town hall in Bleskensgraaf. "Here we installed both the aesthetic RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Design profiles and the energy-efficient RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Solar mounting system for solar panels," Marcel enthuses. "The users of the building look out onto the roofs, so they also had to have an attractive appearance. We therefore combined the solar panels with the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Design system with zinc look. This project nicely demonstrates how functionality and aesthetics can go hand in hand when it comes to roofing. After all, the eye wants something too!"
