Prefa Unveils a World Premiere at RiverEvent

A New Dimension in Aluminum Facades

With a targeted product presentation and a true first, Prefa is making its debut at RiverEvent this year. Instead of an overcrowded booth showcasing a broad product range, the company is highlighting a single, clear innovation that demonstrates how prefabricated facade systems offer architects and installers greater design freedom: a new generation of extruded profiles.

For many years, Prefa has been known for its aluminum facade and roofing solutions made from profiled strip material. “The product line of corrugated and serrated profiles is now being expanded with a new range, specially developed for facade applications,” says Roel van der Veen, Prefa’s country manager. “In addition to the existing corrugated profile, serrated profiles and multiple profile heights and widths are now available, which we’ll be showcasing on the boat during the RiverEvent.”

Combine

Combining corrugated profiles—such as the 10/50, 22/100, 34/100, and 44/200—or serrated profiles like the 18/40 and 29/33 creates a dynamic facade. “The varying depths of the corrugated and serrated profiles create a subtle interplay of shadow lines, giving a facade a constantly changing appearance throughout the day,” explains Van der Veen. “Architects can also easily combine corrugated and serrated profiles in a single design without changing the fastening or detailing.” Prefa’s extruded profiles are available in bare aluminum but are most commonly used with a powder coating or anodized finish.

Uniform sliding-click system

According to Van der Veen, the system also offers a great deal of flexibility from a technical standpoint. “All panels are mounted invisibly using the same slide-and-click system, which keeps the mounting points hidden and allows the aluminum enough room to expand and contract.”.

Thanks to the relatively narrow working width of approximately 14 to 20 centimeters, even slightly curved facades can be easily constructed. This makes concave or convex radii possible without the need for complex custom-made structures.” The extruded profiles are custom-made for each project and supplied in lengths of up to 6.20 meters.

Technical Office Staff

An important part of the final result also lies in the preparation. Prefa’s technical support team assists architects, wholesalers, and installers with complete material lists, installation plans, and project engineering. “Especially for facades that combine different profile sizes, window openings, and combinations of corrugated and serrated profiles, this support helps prevent errors during installation and speeds up assembly on the construction site,” notes Van der Veen.

That practical approach aligns perfectly with the concept of RiverEvent. “We’ve made a conscious decision not to overwhelm visitors with a complete product portfolio, but rather to focus on a single innovation,” says Van der Veen. “The new profile series thus serves as the starting point for a conversation about design freedom, smart engineering, and prefabricated construction. From September 29 through October 1, RiverEvent will be making stops in three Dutch cities: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Den Bosch. On each of these days, the ship will be docked, and the event will be open to the public.
