In contemporary architecture, the front door has evolved into much more than just a functional building component. It is a building’s first impression, a defining element of the facade, and often the first point of contact between the user and the home. With this in mind, KEGRO Doors, in collaboration with five leading architectural firms and its own R&D department, developed the Architectura line: a series of designer doors that sets the new standard in door design.
“The doors of the future were truly developed in collaboration with architects,” says Jannie Kooij, account manager at KEGRO. “Each architect contributed their vision for the door of tomorrow. The result is not a product conceived from the top down, but a true partnership in which designers feel fully involved.”
Architectura is founded on five architectural firms—M3H Architecten, Bedaux de Brouwer Architecten, Van Bergen Architectura, Faro, and Tank Interior Design Agency—each of which has contributed its own signature style, narrative, and approach. From robust industrial references to refined, musical line-based concepts and organic influences from nature: the doors are designed as architectural statements within the facade. The result is a series of door concepts centered on diversity, individuality, and architectural detailing.

The architectural firms“ unique signature is evident down to the smallest details. House numbers can be subtly milled into the door surface, integrated handles blend completely into the design, and extremely thick glazing beads create a powerful, sculptural interplay of lines. Light also plays an important role: variations in openings and glass panels create a subtle interplay between transparency and mass, allowing each door to respond dynamically to its surroundings. ”Architects often ask whether KEGRO’s Architectura line is meant to showcase what’s possible or whether these doors are also suitable for everyone,“ says Kooij. ‘With Architectura, the answer is ’yes.” That’s what makes it so strong.”
In addition to the design, performance has also been carefully ensured. Architectura doors combine aesthetics with excellent insulation properties, including a low U-value, and meet high standards for stability and warranty. As a result, they align with the increasingly stringent requirements for high energy performance and sustainability in construction.

“Architectura’s strength lies in the balance between design and manufacturability,” Kooij summarizes. “While architects are given maximum creative freedom, KEGRO ensures a robust and feasible product concept. This places the line within a broader trend in the construction sector, where customization, technical quality, and aesthetic quality are increasingly converging.” The door is a building’s calling card, she concludes. “With Architectura, we’re showing that that calling card can truly have design value.”
In addition to the Architectura line, KEGRO offers a wide range of standard doors, allowing nearly any architectural vision to be translated into a suitable door solution. For example, by combining the milled edge of one door with the glass openings and thresholds of two other doors. Those who want to take it a step further can also work with KEGRO to develop a custom signature door that fully aligns with their architectural vision.
