REHAU develops, manufactures and sells progressive systems for plastic frames, windows and doors that are as modern as our lives. Systems that not only allow us to see the world around us, but also ensure maximum daylight and ample fresh air. Systems that deter burglars before anything happens. But also systems that perfectly match our facades in shape, size, color and finish and that guarantee a positive ecological footprint. The REHAU SYNEGO-NL profile system family takes these properties to the highest level and is synonymous with total design freedom.
Within REHAU's continuously optimized approach, a prominent place has been given to the EcoPuls label, a leading recycling concept for sustainable window solutions with a very high ecological footprint. In terms of recycling materials, the company masters the full cycle. From the collection of old windows to the processing and use of the recyclate for new SYNEGO-NL profile systems. With EcoPuls, REHAU promises every generation a future. Beautiful figures are the basis for this. The proportion of recycled material in EcoPuls profiles currently varies between 40 and 75% and is constantly increasing. By using reusable raw materials, REHAU reduces CO2 emissions by 97,000 tons annually, the equivalent of 7.8 million trees. In addition, approximately 70,000 tons are used each year
material recycled.
In addition to durability, the appearance of the facade is also ensured with SYNEGO-NL. First of all, the window profiles are available with an exceptionally smooth and patented High Definition Finishing (HDF), which ensures very smooth, dense profile surfaces. This makes the surface particularly easy to maintain and less susceptible to dirt. Architects and end users also benefit from the very highest paint quality. REHAU has more than seventy years of experience in the automotive industry, where it paints automotive parts in more than 500 colors.
The technical knowledge and expertise gained in this process has been translated not only into HDF but also into a versatile and proven KALEIDO COLOR program. This allows architects, processors and building owners to give their creativity free rein. From classic white or black to warm wood motifs, aluminum looks, glossy finishes, traditional with foil or sprayed design: everything is possible. Even the color on the inside and outside can be different. Also, the inside of the profile can be sprayed along, so that one sees the same color when the window or door is opened.
KALEIDO PAINT paints are produced CO2 neutral and contribute to a positive ecological footprint. The proven sustainability of KALEIDO window paints was recently awarded a silver Cradle to Cradle® certificate. This certificate confirms the product's circular properties and thus its recycling potential. Moreover, it is proof of the responsible use of natural resources, the use of renewable energy and compliance with social standards in production.
With the introduction of the Window.ID, REHAU is taking another firm step on the sustainability path. It is an invention that allows every installed window to be closely monitored throughout its entire life. Regardless of whether the profile is made of plastic, wood or aluminum. Here, the digital REHAU Window.ID window axis ensures complete transparency regarding the installed objects. Each window element receives a unique identification tag with QR code and RFID technology. This makes a window visible at any time and anywhere in the chain, as well as all information about that specific window.
Needless to say, REHAU is continuously developing its profile systems. A good example is the ARTEVO system; a fiberglass-reinforced profile that allows savings on steel reinforcement. This benefits both efficiency and carbon footprint. With ARTEVO TERRA, REHAU even has a system based on bio-attributed PVC. Among other awards, the ARTEVO profile system has received a German Design Award 2024 and Iconic Award 2024 for Innovative architecture.
The architecture and construction sector are facing major changes and challenges in the coming years and decades. In particular, climatic conditions and availability of (local) raw materials will increasingly play a decisive role in the realization of projects.
"On the road to greater sustainability, constant development of new, successful sustainability concepts is therefore necessary," says Koen Schepens, sales manager Window Solutions Benelux at REHAU. "We are already making new windows out of old ones," he says. "Smart solutions based on plastics that are highly valued by architects and investors with vision. For example, because they are beautiful and stable, but also because they are composed of renewable resources and help save energy. As such, they fit perfectly with REHAU's philosophy. Offering sustainability is our
obvious."
