Smart lighting: simple but effective

Smart lighting: simple but effective

Control and luminaires optimally matched to each other

"We are betting more and more on Smart Home control," says Leo van Aken, account manager of Klemko Techniek. The company produces innovative LED lighting, lighting controls and connection technology, enabling operation with various (wireless) protocols. Klemko is also introducing Lumiko Easy, a proprietary system for smart lighting that does not rely on Wi-Fi.

Klemko will soon distribute a special Smart Home catalog, but with Archicomm, Van Aken is already looking ahead. "We want to match our lighting to the various Smart Home possibilities to the maximum. The different protocols have their own advantages and in this each user makes his own choice. We outline in the catalog all the possibilities."

Connection to all known protocols

Some of the well-known Smart Home Protocols work wirelessly via Wi-Fi. Examples include Zigbee, Casambi and Z-wave. Others use bluetooth, or work with wiring. "Our products can communicate with all of these solutions. For example, Klemko drivers and dimmers can also be added effortlessly in the Philips Hue app."

In the case of wireless protocols, using apps and a bridge to make lighting "smart" is necessary. However, some users do not want to use an app, but simply switch or dim their lights. "We therefore come up with Lumiko Easy, a simple system that works with hand and wall transmitters and receivers. The lights are then controlled with a simple button on a remote control, no app or bridge is needed."

Lumiko Easy is also very suitable when wifi is not (yet) available, Van Aken explains. "In newly built homes there is often already voltage, but no wifi yet. The kitchen industry can then use our simple but effective system to realize smart lighting anyway. An additional advantage is that Lumiko Easy is easy to install and set up. The wall transmitters can simply be stuck to the wall afterwards. Wherever the client wants them."

The new Smart Home catalog explains all the protocols and systems, but in it, of course, there is also a focus on fixtures. "Then it is about our LED spots and LED strips, also the versions that can change color. Not only the control is important, but also the LED lighting that goes with it. We do our best to match these optimally."

Versatile new led spotlights

This spring, Klemko is adding two new LED spotlights, which, thanks to Klemko LED drivers, can, of course, also be controlled smartly. Both models fall into the Lumiko Compact series. "Piran is a semi recessed spotlight, which requires minimal installation depth. It is actually a tube that can be directed down from the ceiling, or toward the wall. Palermo is longer and has two faces. In a depressed state, it looks like a recessed spotlight. Stretched out, it looks like a surface-mounted spotlight. This spotlight, too, can be tilted to the desired position." Both lamps are available in standard black and white. The reflector is black, but a white or gold reflector is also available to customize the spotlight to the user's taste.
