75 years of natural enterprise: The story of De Klerk

July 1 marks Interior Planting De Klerk's 75th anniversary, a milestone in big green! What started in 1950 as a respected florist shop in Eindhoven, has grown into a leading company in interior planting. Since 2018, De Klerk operates from Veldhoven and provides greenery throughout the Netherlands and across the border in Belgium and Germany. With clients such as ASML, Rabobank, BDO and Fontys, De Klerk is an established name in greening work and living environments.

"Greenery is more than decoration. It brings life, tranquility and oxygen to any space. For 75 years, we have done so with passion and skill," says director Jos, who continues the business with pride.

How it began

De Klerk is a family business that started as a florist. In the 70s they were one of the first companies to start with interior planting based on hydroponics. This came over from Switzerland. Thanks to clients such as Philips and DAF, the company grew rapidly. In the late 1990s, Philips moved to Amsterdam. This caused De Klerk to take its first steps outside the Eindhoven region. There have since been eight acquisitions of interior planters in places such as Barendrecht, Tilburg, Dordrecht, Harmelen, Heeze, Alphen aan de Rijn, Breda and Woerden.

Mission of De Klerk

A clear mission: sustainable growth for people, plants and the world. De Klerk strives to contribute to a future in which nature is not an afterthought, but lays the foundation for well-being, health and connectedness. A world where green is an integral part of the way we live, work and play. "We do more than just plants. We design living environments. From first idea to end result. Together with our partners. Always with an eye for aesthetics, sustainability and with an eye for people."

Looking ahead

De Klerk's future lies in innovative and sustainable green management. Think circular greening, social return and biophilic design. "We are far from finished growing and developing in this industry. Green has gained much more space in the past decade. That's great, but also creates more responsibility, training, maintenance and developments," Jos said.

Today Interieurbeplanting De Klerk has over 120 employees, all with a passion for green. From the sustainable head office in Veldhoven, the team works daily to create a greener, healthier world.
