Recently, IsoBouw was awarded the bronze Cradle to Cradle Certified® certificate for virtually all EPS products. The certificate was granted by the independent Cradle to Cradle specialist EPEA (Environmental Protection Encouragement Agency) and is a guarantee that these IsoBouw products are demonstrably circular. With the certificate, IsoBouw fulfills its sustainability ambitions set out in the 'Improve to preserve' sustainability plan.
EPS has always been 100% recyclable. However, Cradle to Cradle stands for more than the recyclability of a product. It also implies that the raw material should not lose value in reuse (upcycling).
Another added dimension is that Cradle to Cradle products, in addition to the possibilities for reuse, are also checked for the composition of the materials, use of renewable energy, sustainable water management and social justice. Consider, for example, increased requirements regarding CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), environmental impact and HSE (Health Safety and Environment) management.
Cradle to Cradle not only has added value for the environment, climate and habitat. Application of a Cradle to Cradle product also offers economic benefits. Users play a pioneering role and thus increase their market value. In addition, architects and contractors can more easily obtain a sustainability label for building projects, such as Leed or Well certification. Local governments can also set requirements or provide subsidies linked to the application of C2C / circular products.
Certified EPS is used in many IsoBouw products. Examples include EPS insulation boards for flat roofs, floor insulation, cavity insulation and the insulation core of many composite products, such as roof elements.
