According to the Building Code, every apartment in the Netherlands larger than 50m2 is required to have an individual storage room of at least 5m2. But even for smaller apartments, a communal or individual storage room is highly desirable. However, the realization of this is easier said than done. After all, the more apartments there are, the more storerooms must be fitted into the (parking) basement, for example.
To provide relief to architects and contractors, Troax supplies high-quality steel mesh wall panels that offer unprecedented advantages over, for example, masonry sheds. Both in terms of safety, space and appearance.
Cleverly and efficiently protect residents' bicycles, mopeds, strollers, tools and other personal items with Troax's steel mesh walls and enjoy numerous benefits, such as maximum light transmission, comfortable sightlines, excellent ventilation and optimal protection from burglary and damage.
"In many apartment buildings, the storage rooms are still done in traditional masonry," knows Sigrid Herbosch, sales and marketing coordinator at Troax.
"A major disadvantage of this is the thickness of the walls, which snatches away valuable storage space. In addition, masonry walls are not modular, so building owners lose their layout freedom. Our steel mesh wall panels solve both challenges. The panels are only 3mm thick and fully modular, allowing unprecedented freedom of application. When needs change, the setups can be easily disassembled and reassembled in a different configuration. Moreover, the systems are perfectly adaptable to any situation. Sloping ceilings and sloping floors are no problem, and in the case of pipes and ducts, recesses can easily be made. In doing so, maintenance parties retain a view of the building technology at all times."
Because Troax's mesh wall panels are transparent, delineation, protection and visibility come together. "This also offers several advantages," Herbosch said. "For example, any fires can be quickly detected and extinguished. Residents feel safer and unauthorized persons are detected significantly faster."
Also important is the durability of the mesh wall panels. For example, the panels 100% can be recycled and the systems have a very long service life. "In the event of a break-in or damage, the individual mesh wall panels can be easily disassembled and replaced."
Architects can choose from three system series with different mesh and burglary resistance classes at Troax, which can also be freely combined as desired. All systems come standard with welded hinges, says Herbosch.
"Our Classic basic model is ideally suited for apartment buildings or environments where external security is already well established. This system is lightweight, cost-effective and available as standard in mesh sizes of 25×25, 50×50, 50x100mm. The Medium system is mainly used in locations with higher levels of security and comes in combination with approved lock systems and reinforced front panels. Within this system, architects and customers have a choice of a 50x50mm mesh or a full panel. The most secure system is the Safe system, which meets the Politiekeurmerk Veilig Wonen quality mark. This system also features a mesh size of 50x50mm, but with a wire thickness of 5mm. In addition, it uses special profiles that shield bolts, nuts and door locks. But this also applies to a welded padlock or cylinder lock system, which efficiently keeps out unauthorized persons."
The steel mesh wall panels are completed with a wide range of accessories that make the systems even more secure and efficient. From license plate systems to door closers, door dampers, padlock plates, cylinder locks, electric locking plates and shelves. Recently, even bicycle rack systems have become available.
"The steel mesh walls can be finished in any RAL color," Herbosch said. "We also have a hot-dip galvanized (galvanized) variant, which allows installation in damp (outdoor) areas. Thanks to an extensive range of standard sizes (0.2 to 1.5m), a suitable system can be put together in any space. Any adjustments can easily be made on site or in our factory. If required, the systems can be pre-welded to size for an extra-tight result."
Troax develops, manufactures and supplies innovative steel mesh panels and doors for shielding machines and robots, compartmentalizing warehouses and partitioning basements, storerooms, (parking) garages, technical areas and server rooms. "Our products can be found in numerous applications around the world, where they secure people, property as well as processes," says Herbosch. "The panels are also increasingly used as aesthetic finishes. Think of dividing and screening workplaces, restaurants, museums, lofts and creative zones, for example in combination with vegetation. The possibilities thus go far beyond the initial purpose. The only limitation is the creativity of the architect or buyer."
