But how do you combine the increasing importance of sustainability with the aesthetic interest? A dilemma that the daylight filter system Climat Screen knows how to solve. A view of the outside, a pleasant temperature and no disturbing reflection. The appearance of the building also remains intact and unchanged because it is mounted on the inside.
Dion Bosch of Climat Screen: "Existing methods to limit and control light incidence have their limitations. For example, film is not suitable for HR++ glass. Exterior blinds are functional, but reduce visibility and should almost never be used on monumental buildings. Climat Screen actually combines the best of film and window decoration."
Standard window coverings convert sun rays into heat. This increases the temperature in a room. Climat Screen film, developed by NASA, actually reflects about 80 percent of the sun's energy. This provides thermal comfort during hot summer months. In the winter months, Climat Screen actually offers high insulation value. Keeping Climat Screens closed creates a stagnant layer of air between the film and the window, which keeps heat in. In addition, one has more control over light regulation.
The film is processed in Deventer to prevent the mirror effect. Annoying mirroring and reflections in picture and beam screens are thus a thing of the past. "As a result, users experience more visual comfort due to a calm-looking interior and can concentrate longer and better when working from home, for example."
The film is placed in the form of a small roller blind in a compact cassette on the inside of the window so that it is not visible from the outside. "Mounting can be done with screws, but also with special 3M tape. For example, we are currently installing Climat Screens in a large office building in Utrecht. This is rented, and so screwing is not desired."
Manual operation is possible, but Bosch says home automation is increasingly being used. "Our Climat Screens can be equipped with a motor, which uses the mains, or a built-in battery motor," he said. The Climat Screens can be operated with a voice control system and an app.
It is also possible to connect the Climat Screens to a building management system, making them count in the calculation of the energy performance standard (important for sustainability certification BREAAM.EN).
