How safety grilles and stair treads can be a functional as well as a design solution is something PcP Nederland B.V. knows all about. The company operates in Europe and has all facets in-house, from design to production.

PcP Netherlands B.V. is part of PcP in Denmark, which originated in 1929. The company has been active in the Low Countries since 1973. Dennis van Gageldonk, sales manager Benelux: "Our goal is that people feel safe as a matter of course, whether they are walking on a bridge, an access path, on a public staircase or on a maintenance platform. PCP solutions are the basis for this feeling."

Design freedom

"We are unique because we are not tied to a standard product. This gives us a lot of freedom to think along in the design phase. We offer practical solutions, but can also match the customer's wishes in terms of design." 

This allows PcP to play with mesh widths to create a special interplay of lines. The company likes to get involved in the job as early as possible. "We listen to the customer's wishes and translate them into our lattice solutions. From very industrial, to a product that really fits into the environment. PcP is a one-stop shop for all types of gratings and materials and assists the customer from design to final product."

Special projects

The facade of the JK House in The Hague is clad in Corten steel, provided by PcP. For a lively effect, PcP produced the gratings with both 44 and 55mm spacing between the vertical support bars, while the filler bars were spaced 150mm apart. In addition, the grilles were placed upside down against the façade leaving only the vertical bars visible.

The Hising bridge in Gothenburg has a ceiling made of stainless steel gratings. This was chosen for its aesthetic design, but of course the ceiling also had to be a safe and practical walkway. 1000 m² of Cube gratings decorate the ceiling under the bridge.

PcP has three product lines namely the Cube®, Optimo® and Mesh™. The Cube® is the updated and improved alternative to traditional 33 x 33 mesh gratings with low weight and high strength. Optimo® offers more than ten different types of perforation in six different materials. It is lighter than the mesh grating but equally strong and has non-slip properties. Mesh® gratings are available in numerous variations and are used in many industries. According to PcP, the geometric properties of this series are an ideal solution for contemporary architecture.
